MIFAS Basketball Club was founded in 1981 as another branch of the activities promoted by MIFAS Association, to achieve an improvement of the quality of the life of our members at all possible levels. As in other cases, basketball practice was at the time a good excuse for a group of friends to meet and have fun.

Most of the players in the first teams had played some sport before, and on the other hand they knew quite well its therapeutic value could favour their integration on their social communities. That is why the immediate objective of that initial group of wheelchair basketball players was mainly become known, organizing a series of exhibition games throughout the Girona area.

On november, that same year, MIFAS Basketball CLub was legalized, with a Board of Directors of its own, and the team took part for the first time in the Catalan Wheelchair Basketball League, organized by the Catalan Government, and in December in the Barcelona Christmas Tournament, besides the exhibition games.

In 1983, the team enters the Spanish Second Division, and on successive years, plays on different categories.

In 1997 MIFAS Club is renamed CB MIFAS-Esplais, and in 2001 they achieve, for the first time ever, to ascend to the Spanish First Division, category in which it is playing now.

Since then and until 2009, a lot of time has passed, but the basketball team continues playing, and in conclusion, fighting to make our society a little more fair and just for everyone in it.
